Virginia Cook began Kundalini Yoga as part of her own healing from life's challenges and experiences. She is now a certified teacher with the International College of Kundalini Yoga Australia and was trained by internationally renown teacher trainers Guru Dass and Sat Siri. She has also completed Conscious Communication Level 2 training and a kirtan singer.
By practicing this dynamic yogic style, students cultivate an acute awareness of their own bodies and life process, resulting in an exhilarating journey into self discovery, cleansing, healing and living in the heart. Virginia leads a breath-centered internally focused practice and holds the space for her students to self nurture, take a look and transform.
Virginia teaches classes at the Valla Public Hall, NSW on Thursdays 9:30-11:00am and is available for private classes around the Nambucca Valley.
Virginia incorporates the healing power of sound in all of her classes. She alternately uses singing bowls, chanting and mantra for its mind-body medicine and subtle-energy therapy. Whether or not we hear it, everything has a sound, a vibration all its own. Virginia welcomes the opportunity to meet anyone who is dedicated to their healing and awakening.

Kundalini Yoga is a science which works on the seven chakras (esoteric energy centres in the body) and the aura ( the eighth chakra). It enables you to access and utilize your own creative power. This power (shakti) is thought to lie dormant at the base of the spine and is often pictured as a coiled, sleeping serpent until it is awakened, spontaneously or by yogic techniques and arises to unite with Universal energy (prana), empowering you with expanded consciousness.
"What is kundalini actually? It is your creative potential. You experience it when the energy of the glandular system combines with the energy of the nervous system to create such a sensitivity that the totality of the brain receives signals and integrates them. Then you become totally and wholly aware and your creative potential becomes available to you”. Yogi Bhajan.
Kundalini Yoga, as practiced by Yogiji’s students, consists of exercises or postures (Asanas) with special breathing ( Pranayama), hand and finger gestures ( Mudras) , body locks ( Bhandas), chanting ( Mantras) and meditation together or in sequence to create exact, specific effects. This is called a kriya. A kriya, when practiced correctly, has a total effect greater than the sum of all its parts. This science has been studied for thousands of years in the monasteries of India and Tibet and was brought to the west in 1969 by Yogi Bhajan.
Kundalini Yoga is the most inclusive and powerful of all yogas. All yoga aims for the same goal – union with the Universal or Divine Source. The combination of Hatha and Raja that exists in Kundalini yoga can greatly accelerate this process. Central to the practice of Kundalini yoga is the raising of kundalini energy. This can be done by practicing the kundalini sets or kriyas to clear blocked energy and allowing it to move from the lower energy centers in the body to the higher energy centers.
“The power of Kundalini Yoga lies in the actual experience. It goes right into your heart and extends your consciousness so you may have a wider horizon of grace and knowing the truth. Ultimately, you come to understand your existence in relationship to the universe and understand you already are and this brings you to the actual experience of Infinity in all aspects of your daily life”. Yogi Bhajan.
Kundalini Yoga is powerfully transformative. Many of the kriyas are venerable and ancient, having been passed down from guru to initiate student for thousands of years. Kundalini Yoga has been considered sacred and secret, though in recent times Yogi Bhajan made it available to the public expressing his belief that this knowledge belongs to everyone.
